Top publishing app for iPAD

More companies are announcing their applications for the launch of the iPAD. Given that this device has been positioned as ebook reader, ebook related apps are not going to be surprising. Ave!Comics has recently announced that they are working on a iPAD app that will be ready at the launch of the iPAD. This app will allow users to download mobile comics for viewing purposes. According to the news releases, there are going to be social networking and sharing functions as well although there are no news on that front yet.

For me personally, seeing the social network and sharing functions is what I am excited about, not the fact that you can read mobile comics on your device. Media on one new platform should not look and feel like the previous platforms. Once it is too similar, it runs into the problems of people comparing the two types of content and eventually preferring the traditional way the content is delivered. Media for a new platform should think about the new experiences that the new platform can provide and use that to power the kind of innovation applications that will take off.

Case in point: ringtones. While MTV and ringtones can be see as the same type of media i.e. music, they are quite different from each other. MTV is made for TV while ringtones are made for the mobile. Can MTV be played on mobile? sure but it will not as popular as a native content which is ringtone.

Hence, for the iPAD, I want to see how new types of applications and content have been developed to take advantage of this new device’s capability. Mobile comics is fine but what is beyond that. Can we break free of the definition of comics and come up with some new media that has grahppcial componenets in it and yet nt look like the traditional comics?

Finally, I want to see how innovations can happen to iPad accessories. When the iPhone launched, there were a lot of accessories that accompany it such as battery, memory enhancers, headset covering etc. I expect iPad to have the same impact as well.

5 top iPAD app that Wired want to see in 2010

Wired just had a recent article that talks about the 5 top ipad app that tey can’t wait to see in 2010. These apps currently exist in the form of iphone app but the article argued that they could work better in the iPAD. Again, I think this is will not be the breakthrough app we will see on the iPAD.

Most of these apps are published based and feature the likes of Stanza, Instanpaper, Newsrack, Kindle on Amazon etc. All are nothing more than gloried rss readers in my opinion. Where will get interesting is when a new breed of apps that come and reinvent how reading should be done on a multi media rich device that iPAD that also has the ability to connect us. Connection is key in the new media world. How this connection changes the way we consume content is going to game changing. The apps that are going to make the front and center of their app will be the most successful. So far, I have not seen the any apps that hint at this possibility.

Top iPad App

Welcome to the first post of this site. We tend to become the number one resources for recommending the top applications for the upcoming iPad device. Of course, we will covering related iPad news as well. If you are looking for the best applications you can get for the iPad, do keep us bookmarked as we will be providing the latest update. For this site, we will be covering both the Paid and Free versions of the top apps so that you have a full range of applications to choose from.

Currently all the iphone apps will be available for the iPad. However due to the size differences, I expect to see a different way of ipad applications that leverages on its unique capabilities.  Currently, these are some of the iPhone apps that I think will do great on iPad but I expect them to be replaced but something that is built from ground up to be for the iPad. These, i think will be the top iphone apps.

Pictorial Ebooks Apps

I think ebooks with lots of images will do great on iPad. Things like cookbooks, travel ebooks etc will have much more screen space to display their vivid images. These will appeal to folks who doesn’t like to read from the small screen. A related type of app will be the comic app for the iPad. Using the larger screens, the concept of panels is now able to be shown on the device. On the iphone, panels have been taken away to fit one panel into one screen. This  takes away one the key characteristic of the comics, which using panels to tell the story.

Game Apps for iPAD

I think some of the current games for iPhone will do much better on the iPAD. Games apps such as Sim CIty play better with a bigger layout that allows the player to see more of the map. However, I was hoping to see more innovative games that take advantage of the bigger screen size.

Hope this enjoy this first post on the top iPAD app.
